E3 videogame expo to be canceled due to coronavirus: report by Mike Murphy, MarketWatch | Mar 10, 2020

Resize icon E3, the world's biggest videogame convention, will be canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak, Ars Technica reported Tuesday night. Citing multiple sources familiar with organizers' plans, Ars Technica said the three-day expo will soon make a public announcement. E3 2020 was scheduled to run June 9-11 in Los Angeles. After originally saying the expo would go on, E3 organizers said March 4 that they are "monitoring and evaluating the situation daily." If it is indeed canceled, E3, which had about 66,000 visitors last year, will join a long list of other conferences and festivals that have pulled the plug due to the outbreak, including the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

Video game movies. Yes, it’s a shame that when I string those three words together, you probably groan and roll your eyes. But honestly, they’re not all bad! In fact, some of them are pretty good. Detective Pikachu, for one, proved that with a straightforward enough plot line, a video game movie could churn out cinematic gold. And with the recent Sonic The Hedgehog movie coming very soon, we thought it would be fun to rank the best video game movies ever made.

Unlike any “Dragon Ball” game before it, “Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot” delivers fresh gameplay and a new perspective on the beloved anime story. The game does not come without its flaws, however. The strengths outweigh the weaknesses of this game, but certain issues arise while playing that stay constant throughout. Even so, “Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot” delivers a video game that relives the epic stories of Goku and friends.

The 2020s, as predicted by videogames by By Tyler Wilde, PC Gamer.com | Jan 02, 2020

How a handful of games set in the 2020s envisioned modern technology.Near the end of a thousand years with the number one in front of them, the number two became the de facto symbol of the future, bringing us 2001: A Space Odyssey, Death Race 2000, Knight Rider 2000, and so on. The real year 2000 did not involve evil AI light bulbs or, in Knight Rider's case, a Dan Quayle presidency, but some sci-fi took things even further out by adding another 'two' to the mix, setting their dystopias in the 2020s.

Smart Timing for a by Keith Noonan (TMFNoons) | Dec 14, 2019

The next entry in the blockbuster video game franchise is on the horizon, but debuting it on next-gen consoles would be a huge mistake. Take-Two Interactive's (NASDAQ:TTWO) Grand Theft Auto V is, by many metrics, the most successful video game of all time. Some reports suggest that it's actually the single most profitable entertainment release ever. The title has shipped over 115 million copies and generated tons of high-margin revenue through its online mode. Plus, it's still putting up strong sales and keeping players engaged. Much of the bull case for investing in Take-Two hinges on the idea that it will eventually deliver another successful Grand Theft Auto (GTA) sequel.

'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' will be a PlayStation exclusive until 2021 by Jon Fingas, @jonfingas, Engaget | Dec 10, 2019

Xbox fans will just have to make do with earlier (newer?) games. There was little doubt that Final Fantasy VII Remake would be a premier PlayStation title, but it's now clear just how long everyone else will have to wait to play it. Deal-finder Wario64 has discovered box art showing that the reborn RPG will be a PlayStation exclusive until March 3rd, 2021 -- a year after its planned release date. Xbox and PC fans will just have to settle for older (or really, newer) Final Fantasy titles until that point, although the timing suggests VII Remake for other platforms is more a matter of "when" rather than "if."
